Side Effects of Reiki

Often I am asked, "What are the side effects of Reiki?" Since Reiki works for your highest good and always with good intention, you normally do not have anything but good side effects. However, some people may feel a bit off in the few days following Reiki.

This happens for those who are very sensitive to energy and when the Reiki has made a very big change in your energy fields.

Imagine this scenario: You have a hip that is slightly out of place and for that reason, you walk a bit differently. It bothers you and causes pain in various areas of your body (leg, hip, back etc) but you push on every day living with this condition. Then, one day, you get it fixed. Now you are balanced, however...your body needs to adjust. With the weight now evenly distributed between both legs, they are now figuring out how to work together. The weaker leg that you favoured needs to work harder and the stronger leg that you used to use to compensate now works less. Your back will also feel different as the muscles pull and stretch a different way now due to the even distribution of weight and the new alignment you have created.

This is how Reiki can affect your body. It takes what was out of balance and puts it into balance. With that change, the body begins re-learning how to work together.

So what does it feel like? You may feel like you haveĀ  cold coming on, perhaps a little run down. Simply rest, drink plenty of fluids and help flush out any toxins in your body and you will feel better in no time!

Most people do not have any negative side effects from a Reiki session. Normal side effects from a Reiki session can be:

  • Renewed energy
  • Alertness and Refreshed
  • Increased Mental Clarity
  • Pains and Aches are gone
  • Peace and Understanding of Emotional Issues
